playing back ups online is risky no matter what there also rummer that the ban hammer is coming out soon also it better to just try and get it flashed

it can be done in two ways

flashing the dvd drive it's self OR with a nme chip

flashing the drive's firmware is the most common way to do it but this can be risky cos if you balls it up you will brick the drive

in my case i have flashed the drive in both my xbox 360 consoles and both work fine (dont use live myself ).

the nme chip bypasses the dvd drive firmware leaving it intact using the hacked firmware on the chip

i don't have a chip so i don't know the details of how to install them
but i can tell you ive seen loads of posts on torrent sites with people saying
this game won't work with my nme chip that work fine for me without the chip
(something to do with the way the games get patched )

MEDIA

AONE dual layer disks and a pioneer dvd burner

i was paying £20 for 10 dvd's at one point and these cheap ones are miles better than them

as far as the ban hammer goes everytime their is an update for the 360
everyone start panicing but the truth is nobody knows what microsoft have put in the update
only time will tell

you have to open the xbox up and find out what dvd drive you have mate
samsung ms25 being the easyest to flash (voids you warranty)

some will need soldering ( samsung ms28)

you must read all the guides on xbox scene forums
then when you think you got it READ IT AGAIN

if you don't backup your original firmware and you fook it up you won't even be able to buy a new drive to fix it

(each drive has a string of numbers in the dvd firmware without this the motherboard won't accept the drive)

here is the xbox dvd drive hacking forum on xbox scene read the stickys
you will find guides and other info

_http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showforum=169

i must stress this is all at your own risk :biggrin

All but the new lite on drives can be flashed and there is no soldering needed

You don't need to open the box to find out what drive you have have a look at this page

hxxp://www.llamma.com/xbox360/Xbox_360_DVD_Drive_Comparison.htm

Once you find out what drive you have then we can find the best way of flashing the drive all require you to have sata ports on your pc some do require you to have a specific chipset but that will depend on the drive

As i said find out what drive you have and we can then take it from there

I would upload the tut on how to do every drive but it is over 12 meg and the forum server won't allow it

ok found this copy of the tut

yeh unless it comes back saying its a benq then we need to have another check as the new lite on and benq drives both have the exact same trays can only tell by the little spy hole wires

ok you now need to open the drive to find out what version it is as there is 4 versions of this drive

here a tut on how to dismantle it

hxxp://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2246320,00.asp

don't worry too much about the tool thats getting used just take a old cd/dvd cake plastic and cut a little prong
