hi my friend has a netgear router and his db runs through it but the ip address on the comp keeps changing i know it has something to do with the dmz could anyone help with a walk through or assistance to set this up so it deosnt change anymore

tell him to turn the DHCP function on and limit the amount of DHCP users to as few as he needs, ie if he only has a 1 pc and dreambox limit the DHCP users to 3, one for the router, one for the PC and one for the dreambox, then turn OFF the DHCP setting in the dreambox comms menu, his PC will now always have the same IP.
DMZ is for port forwarding.

That's right. He can assign specific LAN addresses to each device, so even though the routers internet address may change, the LAN addresses are always the same.
If he goes to 'Attached Devices' he can see what the router is detecting, but if he goes into 'LAN IP Setup' and adds the DB to 'Address Reservation', that will do the trick.
