I thought the new i-phones were only supported by O2 if so there would be no point in unlocking them.

If you buy an iPhone and it comes with 1.1.2 firmware out of the box, it has the bootloader BOOT04.06_M3S2. There IS NOT CURRENT FULL UNLOCK FOR THESE PHONES.
If you've upgraded using iTunes from 1.1.1 etc, its possible to downgrade an fully unlock these again.
But as for the o2 iPhone, this comes NETWORK LOCKED, instead of SIM LOCKED. Meaning Any O2 Sim can be used in the iPhone once its been activated (this involves downgrading, jailbreaking and then upgrading again)
AnySim will not unlock the iPhone with the new bootloader currently, no matter if its 1.2u or whatever.
So, just to make this totally clear. If you've bought an o2 iPhone, its now possible to activate and use any o2 sim in it. NO OTHERS at this current time.

Hi all
just like the last post said i have had it unlocked for o2 PAYG, the people who did it belive it will be a few months before a full any sim unlock becomes available - when the new firmware is updated to 1.13, still better than the 35 iphone tax
in the end paid someone to unlock it, just did not trust the ebay instructions.
thanks for your help
