got this from a comments thread on newzbin. thanks goes to 'meestermole'
and feed back that it works.
ain't got an xbox 360:mad: but thought it might be of interest if anyone wants to try it out.:ok
For playing HD on your XBOX 360 - this will allow you to place large files on your external drive.
1. Find and Install a program called MACDRIVE - this will allow you to format your Hard drive as a Mac-formatted drive (HPFS) - be sure to back up anything already on it! When you format it, it will be clean! Also, MACDRIVE will allow your Windows PC to READ/WRITE to the drive just like a regular drive letter.
2. Get your large files via newsgroups or whatever, and unrar them to the external (macformatted) drive.
3. Plug the drive into your XBOX 360 (i use the front USB) and browse it just like you would any other USB drive attached!
I find it ironic that a Microsoft product won't read a windows filesystem (NTFS), limit itself with an outdated filesystem (fat32), but is able to read a competitor's filesystem (MAC'S HPFS)
Be sure the files are in .WMV format!!! XBOX will play a limited number of other formats, but .WMV is surefire!!
Good luck, and have fun!!!
all so check out if the usb drive can be formated back to fat or nfts
and feed back that it works.
