Whilst the cheap supermarket branded electricals might sound a good deal etc. Be sure to check out there terms of warrenty etc. I used\still work for ASDA (technacally) and they did'nt get rid of there infamous "Free 3 Year Warrenty" without reason on electricals for nothing m8.

But saying that often those cheap electricals can often be found to be re-brands of more better known brands.

All I'll say is do your research first. And if it says "Pacific" as a brand avoid it like the plague m8 as it counts for a good half of electrical returns in store!.

But daewoo is a pretty robuct and reliable brand in my experience if thats the true brand label of cause.

i got me mum one a while back from the asda, not the model posted (can't remember) but has an 80gig drive in.

she told me she would'nt use it as she's a technophobe, but after a week she was wizzing thru the 7day epg setting recordings like she'd had one for years. dead handy but remember they don't have an external input so no recording from other devices such as a dreambox or sly box :ok

They come with one years parts and labour warranty...twin tuners and built in Freeview....I think they make excellent Christmas presents...

btw my oldest has a little Daewoo car which she loves...I like it too...cheap to service and insure...but high road tax for such a small car...opps, I think ive went off on a tangent here...lol

asda will always take stuff back without a problem-they do for me anyway. even if its not broken the guy at the till can't tell. However, I don't like the hard drive recorders because what if you want to keep something permanently? how do you get it off if it hasn't got a burner?

Unless they are very different to all other PVRs, there is enough space on an 80 Gig HDD to record more than 40 hours of good quality films/programmes. When you've watched the recording, you then normally delete each one. If you want to keep whatever it is indefinitely, you can usually link the PVR to a recorder of some kind:ok

Have a look at the PVR forum on digital spy. Most PVR's on the market have been taken apart by the members there.
