Liverpool area including: Knowsley, Liverpool Complete


10mb to 20mb speed upgrades for liverpool are done
you have to reboot your modem to pickup a new config file 20480-768


ive just tested a few of the speed test and they can't keep up with my 20mb line lol

this one seems the best for 20mb

no mate only 10 mb gets upgraded


not like the old telewest days anymore when everyone got upgraded


telewest would have upgraded all their hardware and upgraded everyone
with no limits

virgin never done this cos the only reason they upgraded us to 20mb
is so they gets more for the sale of the company

yes cable is being sold again :tsk i think its up for auction already

so we will have another owner again

comcast cable maybe ?

I used to like my broadband when it was Telewest but since Virgin tuck over they have Fuked it up and take the P*ss out of use.£37 for a 20mb line that gets capped for 8 no more like 12 hours aday

just done the test and my speed is 9.75 ,have just rang virgin and they dont have a date foer liverrpool13 yet will inform by email of distruption,when the last upgrades hapeened it took up to 6 months to do tha whole of the uk

so await my email

looks like i,ll have to get onto them again ,but its probably right cos i know we had to wait ages just for our street to get broadband,i was in my house 2 years before i was able to recieve it

alt did you switch off you modem for a few mins ?

then from ie goto http://192.168.100.1/ modems config page


then to status and see if you have
Configuration File cm-20480-768


some modems might list the config file name in another place other than status so check other tabs within the configpages to find it

Is this upgrade worth it am only asking because am having loads of problems with them.they have put me on this speed cap that should only come on if i download 700odd mb after 4 bells and last 4 hours well even if i dont donw load a thing it still comes on and last way after 2am.I was getting this upgrade but am not sure now

just gone to website after switching off ,this is what i found
does it need resetting again?

no mate you always get these sort of error's in the log i have them myself

if your config file wont update its cos virgin are not ready to upgrade you

from what virgin say you will only get your line limited if you are is the top 5%
if worst downloaders for your line speed

and this applys from 4 pm to 11pm

after that the limit should be removed


easy way around this would be to leave your pc on all night downloading
when your asleep so your not doing it in the peak hours

ive always downloaded like this so its not a problem for me

I understand that m8 but even if i dont download a thing all day am getting capped and it stay on till all hours in the morning

i would contact customer relations mate and ask to speak to a manager
your line should not be limited in the day at all

Done all that m8 all i got was we will look into it and see whats is wrong as am not the first person to say this but they dont know when they will get back to me.One person as offerd me 20mb and a phone line for £37 amonth but am trying to get them to give me the phone lime that is free all day

i am in the liverpool13 area my speed has been very slow on virgin recentlty just checked the speed 3 times and only got 5meg out of a 10 meg connection ,anyone else experiencing this checked website can,t see any fauelts in the area

virgin wnat 25p a min to talk to them ,have sent an email which will prob never be answered
