Buying some of the final things for the house has one of those cheap hd lcd tv's. I've not got to much idea as to weather or not they are worth it compared to the dearer ones. But as we have limited space in the new place it's our best option for saving space. Even if the gf still wants it on a stand rather than the wall.
It's from argos, Beko make 32" £350 but they dont state the model no. Anyone have any opinions or know where I might find some reviews?.

Most of the advice on the likes of avforums or digital spy is that you get what you pay for with LCD TVs. Try searching for beko 32" model numbers and then see if you can find any reviews searching on the model numbers

Thanks, I found the info in the end. Was hard work as the model did'nt seem to be listed on the beko uk website!.
I know it's always going to be hit and miss if anyone can get a half decent hd lcd tv for a budget of only £350. But in the first case it's mainly for a space saving tv than a hd tv. As the only thing that I can see a real need for the hd feature for in the near future would be if I get an xbox 360. Well I cant see me or prehaps many of us having or getting a hd sat reveiver any time soon cos of the cost of one against what we already have.
Well it does seem hard finding a decent size crt these days and with the cost being the same these days I'd sooner go for the flat screen option.

dunno much bout the tellies m8..but ive been looking for a coffee table to compliment our hdtv stand since we bought it nearly 2 years ago..and hey presto..was looking thru the argos site the other week and there it was..an almost perfect compliment to the telly stand & only 35 quid..i couldnt believe it..it looks the biznis in the lounge m8 but would make a perfect stand for a medium sized lcd/plasma tv..worth considdering as opposed to 100-150 quid you might pay for simmilar tv stand:ok

Funny thing is with my 50inch i got rid of the stand brought a 2nd hand solid wood unit 3 cupboards doors , and 3 drawers, took the back off it put in 3 drawer sliders at the bottom and some nice wood on top of the sliders...
media center slides in and out if i need to get at the back
xbox and xbox 360 slides in and out
dvd/r slides in and out then stuck a fake back on 3 inches inside the unit and then all the cables go behind this added extension cable with rf plug switches then added the back to it - result nice looking unit housing all the media stuff and games stuff no cables to be seen and with the rf switches its remote for tv on , remote for xbox etc etc

I got the lcd tv and set it up last night. Well the difference is very notable, but in a good way.
The detail levels are for the best part a lot better as is the colour. The black is, well black and not greyish at all really. And most of the other colours are very vibrent to. Ok sometimes it looks slightly blured, but I do need glasses and the pic looks average to very good for the best part.
For the best part it's good value for money and 9 times out of 10 better to my crt tv.

i think the blurry appearance is usually down to poor reception/weater conditions or crappy transmission quality video..enjoy:ok

Funny you say that m8 as I was thinking something similar. But in saying that I'd have said the quality and VBR (vide bit rate) would be constent for any main channel.
But I've noticed depending on what program the quality changes a lot on the same channel. An example of this is news reports and regular dramas and films. The conclussion I've come to is that reguardless of a available stated VBR it changes a lot.
Not bothered really but it's almost often like a mix of viewing video recored and film recorded broadcasts. Which with hd treated tape recording being the same quality as film aught to make no notable difference.
Sorry waffling on and talking bollox probably lol.
