Hi folks

Just a note to warn any prospective purchasers Bravia Rear Projection Tv's

I got mine 50" last February and watching for about 6 hours a day of an evening.

I got up Last monday to find that the Lamp had gone.

Having searched the net i found that the only place to sell them are Sony direct.

It took less than 60 seconds to change it over but the cheapest I was quoted was £240.00.

They are £170.00 including p&p so beware.

The same TV is now for sale for approx £699.00 so note that I recon replacements needed every 15 months.

I love playing on the xbox360 on mine...
as for a hd box, build yourself a new media pc for underneath it m8 thats what ive done with the price of hd`s and amds so cheap, wintv pvr 500 inside it....stream tv programs straight to it.

Also just had a quick scan on ebay.com and looks like there are some on there to be add prices starting at $149 for a new bulb, so the next time a family member goes stateside i may ask them to check some shops out...

Actually Greg, that isnt too bad mate, most projector bulbs cost more than that and dont last as long (although I doubt many people use them 6 hours a day as you would a TV).

For HD DVD I bought a xbox360 HD DVD player which works fine & only cost me £120 brand new obviously this is only an option if you own a xbox360.:ok

Yeah m8 i did look into that option myself as well, but wanted more if you know what i mean, record tv,timeshift etc, listen to web radio surf the net,use it as a pc , play games etc, watch joost, download entire series of tv programs to the hdd and watch them etc plus i had the amd /mobo/memory spare after a new upgrade so i had only to buy a nice case and hdd and tv card etc...

But it is another option cant for the life of me understand why Ms left the hd dvd drive out of the 360..

so they could get another £120 out of you at the following xmas :tsk

also if they would have added it in it would have pushed up the price
to closer to the ps3 price and alot more ppl would have said "think i'll wait for the ps3 to come out "

im glad they did anyway cos they fooked up with the dvd firmware :ok

Depends on what gfx card you have in your pc m8, but most if not all newish graphics cards have a dvi output as well, so if your tv has a hdmi input you will need a dvi to hdmi cable, they come in 1m to 20m sizes, prob is some tv`s can not cope with it at all and some gfx cards are better than others, despite them having the connections on there, Before you get said cable, if your tv has a pc (vga) input connection use that first and try changing the display settings try 1280*720 at first etc.
