Last night Labour mps had a meeting discussing the possibilty of scrapping unemployment benefit in the future, this kind of happened in the Usa several years ago (there is a cut of period)

They say there is enough work out there...

What is your opion...

complete and utter bollox, this country wouldn't last 5 minutes without the unemployed. i know how strange that sounds but its economics and all that caper. there simply isn't enough jobs to go round. ask the students who are comming out of uni with degree's in all kinds why they are still waiting table's in the local restraunt. ask the doctors what there job prospects are after they have finished there 2 year placement after 5/6 years training what chances the have of finding work in this country. i think the government is flooding the country with over qualified people for a limited number of jobs, forcing wages down cos the demand for the job is so high and if you don't accept the terms of the contract (minimum wage) then there are plenty of others who will.

add to this the influx of non british people who see our minimum wage as a kings ransom, even the so called menial jobs like kitchen porter, cleaner, etc are not there any more.

yes i am on the dole, no i'm not happy about it, but try getting of it once you are here. i get £56 a week, plus £35 rent. so a job would have to pay a minimum of £150 a week just to allow me to live as i do now, anything less and i'd just end up in all kinds of debt which makes no sense to anybody.
just my 2bobs worth.

well before they do that...(labour party...or are they conservitives?)....they best merge with there blue mates....back stab each other, and if between them we land up with our 1st foriegn prime minister....who could then create a new european (said sarcasticly) dictatorship

there wont be a need for unemployment benifits:biggrin

What amazed me when i heard this....

Mrs Blair can earn 30k for a 30 minute speach, she can earn big money because she is a top lawyer etc.

Blair often says im not having my inflation busting pay rise i can do without but last year mps (i keep typing mp3s) claimed 5million in travel allowance, how many times have we heard "local mp goes to singapore to check out how the rubbish colletion works there etc" all at our expense, Blair has free holidays from Cliff and the like....

I wish they would live in the real world like the rest of us.

the main point of my post is....they are reduceing the right to benifit, houseing from those that "had" the right...either by birth, earn'd or other wise, this is,nt a pop at immigrants.....

its about giving priority to your own before those that have dumped themselves in this country, for what ever reason

the bottom line is, the way the pc minded twats are running this country, it won,t be long before we give the whole chi bang to them...and we land up as dave has said, on income benifit level wages...with no rights to benifits and effectively surporting these economic scroungers, we are now being invited to work till we drop, and means tested pensions....so where has the money gone

if the goverment was a bussiness...they would be investigated

getting a bit politcal i know...but blaire and his cronies need to remember that the more illegal migrant workers there are...the less working voters

Young doctors struggle to find work, I have just had a student gynaecologist in his final year doing some decorating in the house, he done an excellent job decorated the hall and it only took him a few hours and that was working through the letter box.:biggrin

if someone did fall out of work, that dont get anything/enough from the benefits anyway,
its the ones who have never worked, never got any intension of getting a job, get all the benefits, are the ones who i think should have their money stopped, or at least make them do a job for it, theres loads of jobs that they could do just to get them off their arses, and if they arnt prepared to do it, then why should they get any money, if i told my boss i couldnt be arsed to work, dont think he would pay me for long:biggrin

I belive in Japan that to qualify for unemployment benefit (or whatever their equivilent is), you have to work. They put them on shop doorways as a greeter (just to say hello to customers and open the door for them !) and so on. That has to be an incentive to get a real job surely ! :biggrin

I do sympathise with the genuine unemployed though. If you are willing to work then the Government should help you as best they can. I'm not racilist in the least, but our Authorities seem to be abondoning the British people whilst going out of their way to encourage immigration, doubtlessly because it scores us 'brownie points' in Europe. In fact, if it were down to me, I'd tell Europe to go swing, close our borders and start looking after ourselves again instead of trying to impress the rest of the world and playing at being a 'superpower' nation. We managed for 100's of years without having to ask Brussels how long we should make our sausages and so on :bash

Surely that is a real job here @ ASDA etc .

Iv'e been on the dole a few times and sometimes for a year or more and i
could not have survived without a job on the side(very poorly paid) or some other enterprise.

And Dave Mak is right about the hardships of getting a job once you are on the dole most employers see you as lazy. which is often not the case.

The government looking into it ? If they lived in the real world or asked the people that live in the real world, then they would have the answers to almost everything.
