I have just got my 360 modified so that I can play backups of my originals.
is anyone else backing up theres as Im quite new to console mods and may need some help if things dont go smoothly (and they often dont with me).

I have the instructions and the software and will be taking the top of my pioneer writer tonight so see if it works.

If anyone knows any does and dont they would be greatfully received.

cheers.

Hi jester.. ( congratulations :ok by the way x)

I pressume he meant search thru the many many torrents available of xbox360 games available on the internet.. (torrents are a way of downloading)

best place is definately xbox scene for help and advice for backing up all games that you own etc..

if you are after new games to create then search thru various torrent sites, newsgroups etc..

thanks wobble, it feels strange now Im married like I have to grow up or something but I dont want to !!!!!

I dont have internet at home until the end of the month cos we recently moved so its killing me, I keep logging in from work but its a hard life at the moment !!!

I have manged to rip disks I think but I cant burn them, let me tell you what I have done.

Install WXripper, taken the dual layer pioneer apart, I bought it pre hacked as it were with the correct bios flash on so it should be ok.

I put in an original disk click on find luky number click on stop, take the top off put PGR3 in click on spin, click on start dump then wait.

once done I have a 7.5gb iso fine which I try and burn with clode cd 5 but it gets to the end and after 40 mins says failed, I have some lovely coaters now only £1.20 each.

I think it might be the type of disks I have any suggestions ??

thetarget
27th January 2007, 08:53
i done mine myself mate cost=alot of reading

£50 is too much mate but it is abit of a pain to do, but in the end all you are doing is flashing the dvd with new firmware

_http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showforum=169

check out the stickys mate theres one with guides for each dvd drive

you had best try to work out what dvd drive you have first (without opening the box ) ...when you open it it damages ms stickers/tags and voids the waranty

finally copied my first game!!!

bought a samsung dvd rom with some flashed firmware off ebay for £18 then ran xbox backup creator to create an image.

it creates a 7,5gb image in 15 minutes which I think is very quick.
The used clone cd to write the image to a traxdata purple DL DVD using a pioner 111 with flashed firmware that took 50 mins.

just played the copy (project gotham) on xbox live no problem.

after all this messing, including taking the drive apart and borrowing 24 season 2 diak 3 as read on a forum I am well chuffed.

going to clone all my originals now!! and then some.

the whole lot cost me £18 plus postage for the dvdrom £30 for the writer and £15 for 10 disks so not bad really.

going to try the wii now as the wife just bought me one for my birthday.

got 3 original games and 7 back ups....

tempted to trade in my 3 originals.

I was thinking of getting a Backup sammy drive of ebay but not sure what there like any seen them
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-XBOX-360-TOSHIBA-SAMSUNG-DVD-DRIVE-ROM-VER-MS25_W0QQitemZ250078079633QQihZ015QQcategoryZ11284 6QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
or is it cheaper just to get a lens to tell you the truth when it comes to stuff like this i aint got a clue thats one of the reason am to scared to upgrade my firmware

thetarget
1st February 2007, 17:50
i already replaced the lens on mine :biggrin was easy cost £15

if you dont have a clue about things like this mate you had best take you box to somone that does to get it flashed

if you mess it up you could endup with a dvd drive that has about as much use as a brick aka "bricked drive"

also to replace a dvd drive in a 360 you need to extract the firmware
from your old drive first, there is a code in it that makes that drive work
with your xbox motherboard if you don't have that code it don't matter how many new drive's you buy they wont work

lol anyway you would have to flash the drive with the firmware
same as with a hacked firmware.

jonc

Where did you get your lens from and was it easyer than replacing a new drive ....When i got my x60 the lad give me a backup of my original firmware

ImCal

thetarget

best thing to do is to take out the laser you have now and on the back of it is a small number staped into the plastic thats the model number

use that to make sure you get the right one there not all the same

i got mine here
_http://www.mrmodchips.co.uk

on these lens's pcb there is a small blob of solder that needs removing (anti static point) for it to work
if you order from ebay some of the sellers will remove this for a small fee or even for free

jonc
1st February 2007, 23:38
Thanks...........are these only for Hithi SF HD-63 drives
from www.mrmodchips.co.uk

thetarget
2nd February 2007, 01:42
best way to find out is take your laser out and look to see if it has SF HD-63
on the back of it

be carefull not to damage any of the ribbon cable's

its the only sure way to tell

i would just look it takes 10 mins and you can leave the case open to fit the new one when it comes

the SF HD-63 was the same laser that was in my samsung ms25 drive
