X box 360 game update software

Hi , my xbox 360 has been flashed, we got a game (copied Version) recently it said the game needed to update the software will this wipe the flash off ?

no it can't wipe the flash


this could be the microsoft fall update if so it can cause problems
with the xbox in some cases


theres no getting around this as this update will be on most of the latest games
and you will be get the same message on these games untill you use the update


my xbox is flashed and the update didnt give me any problems
but there was 1000's that got an error 66 after installing it on a flashed xbox

if you did get this error you can sort it out but as far as i know you would need to reflash with an updated firmware for your dvd

but i do think this e66 problem only effects samsung drives made after may.



at the end of the day you going to need to take the chance and update
if you get a problem you could reflash with a updated version

or take it back to who ever flashed it

this may not happen but its best to let you know everything just incase.

@dpm30 you need to find what type of dvd drive is in you 360 and then just do a search for the flash image you drive needs to play BACKUPS.:ok
As mentioned above the update did do some boxs no good but mines still fine and good to go online.

can be done at home but will void your waranty as you have to open the box

you must connect your dvd drive out of your xbox to your sata ports in your pc and update the firmware for the drive with hacked firmware
(this only works with some chipsets )


the only place i would get a firmware for the xbox 360 dvd drive
would be xbins

you need to use and ftp client like flashfxp to do this here is a guide
on how to use xbins ( it may be alittle outdated but the commands are all this same )

and backup you old firmware as you NEED IT without it yoour xbox dvd drive becomes a brick lol

I bought my 360 pre flashed and at the begging of November i tuck it back to the feller i got it from and he did the 41a update for me and i dident get the error 66 but i heard that at the end of november there was an nother update that was bricking 360s.So i havent been on live since but its statring to do my headin.I am to scard to try and flash my 360 my self but the feller i got it off is pain in the ass.So i have started to think that mybe its time i tryed fashing it my self as the new firmware is out 51a X .I was looking at getting a Blaster 360 or Connectivity Kit but which would e best to gett and will it make the flashing a lot easyer plus with one of these whats the chances of me bricking it

mate the updates are also on the games (even backups )so hiding from live isnt going to help lol


if you go on live soon as you connect to it you will be asked to update
or you can't go on live

if you don't get this message then you already have the fall update and wont have a problem

if your on 4.1 firmware i wouldnt update to 5.1 just yet untill the rest of the bugs have been worked out allowing the xbox to boot 360 games from single layer disks is a big step and will no doubt have bugs

havent a clue about the connectivity kids but the blaster looks good but i think its going to be about £40

i would enjoy LIve while you can mate i doubt it will last forever for us :ok

i would take it back mate and tell them your getting an error 66 after the fall update

flashing it is a pain, if you don't know what to do you could brick the drive
shame you was unlucky mate

Not got a 360 yet, but seriously thinking about it. Assuming I'm happy with flashing the firmware on the drive, are there any potential problems doing it on a 360 connected to xbox live?

Is it reversible by flashing with orig. firmware?

Also is this error 66 related to using modded firmware or just down to crap samsung drives?

at the moment live works via copied games but this could change
at anytime.

ms did ban users off live few months back but ended up giving them all there accounts back cos they have a problem telling whats modded and whats not lol.


yes you can go back to the original firmware but you still voided your warranty by opening the box ( first thing you do is back up that orig firmware
you will need it)


error 66 seems to only affect samsung drives made after may 06
i think this problem is sorted now on new firmwares but best look on xbox scene forums as i never had this problem on my sammy

btw samsung drives are not crap they are the best drives for 360
you will be lucky to get one tbh

Heres a great bit of software to connect sraight to xbins to download there files

well see when it comes out aye.Id say at the moment its better to flash a 360 coz it doesnt cost nothing and you can still play on live.The advantage of a chip would be a chip that runs unassigned code that will be the break through,and that would be the time id consider a chip.
