i have a ford ghia and since i bought it last year the heated windscreen does'nt work...the light comes on but a few months ago it was de-misting a line down the screen about an inch wide but does'nt seem to be doing anything now i have only 1 very small chip in the windscreen which i don't think is causing any trouble!
is there any way of checking to see where the problem is cos unlike the rear window the wires are hidden(to where i don't know)

it probably is the chip mate had the same problem a few years back easier to pay the first 50 quid or so on your insurance and get them to replace it due to the chip / crack

it is more likely to be due to the fact that the elements inside the glass are so fine (so u can see out of the window) that they do have a habit of burning out, i had this with my old escort. i'd do wot goodier says pay the first 50 quid or so and have a new one fitted. as i needed a new screen the other week, when i phone autoglass i asked how much to fit a heated screen instead of the standard screen, i was told it will be the same price as a standard screen. so i got them to fit it and using my old ford id i was able to fit wiring loom relay and switch for less than 50 quid plus the 60 for insurance. so 110 quid for a diy heated windscreen upgrade is not bad, when the fitter told me ford charge between 350 - 400 quid to do it. and now that we have the snow i'm so glad for it
