hi guys my son has just got a packard bell external hard drive 400gb. pluged it into his system but it only showing 127gb. pluged it into mine and its sowing the same. so just formatted it and its still the same. so i opend it up and it says 400gb seagate barracuda on the drive been to the seagat website used a program called disk wizard which formmated the drive into ntfc but it sitll the same.is there any program that i can get that will format it in fat32 to see if that will work. tx

think its a windows setting but could be a bios setting which enables pc to see it as bigger disc m8..if i come across it i will post it ...dunno if old board is still available but if it is, do a search on there cos this subject has been sorted at least once that i know of..sorry not much help but been up since 8 last night:ok

tx jakeuk i know it cant be much if i can get my hands on some software or something to format it propley i think that will sort it. what is a low level format mean

Are u running winxp and do you have service pack 2 installed?
Also can you tell us what your system is..etc

lol tx guys ill have a look now @amcal im running winxp pro sp2 256 ddr graphic card with 3200 amd and 512 ddr tx m8. i remember that post jake thats all ok now just that my lad got a packard bell one now which will not show 400gb tx m8
