windows media center

hi lads just bought a dell pc with windows media center,ive tried conectin my ntl cable box to it but i cant get the pc remote to change my ntl channels its as if its not reconising the cable box i can watch all my channels thru my pc and can change the channels with my normal cable remote but its not the point i shud be able to do it all with my pc remote,any help appreciated,thanks

is the card in your pc a DVB-C, if not then i don't think this is gonna happen, i've seen the option on most tv cards in the channel scanning section, asking antena or cable, but i don't think that means plug a cable box in and you can scan the channels.

the way you have it set now is the way i have mine set, just 1 channel scanned, and i still change over using the original box's remote :ok

i read this post 2 mins b4 dave replied & did'nt respond myself cos was uncertain but would now just confirm wot dmak says......unless some s/ware exists to channel pc to cable box which sounds maybe not impossible but quite unlikely:confused

no it is possible to connect a cable box/satlelite reciever to your pc and u can control it all with the poc remote u can record live tv its basically a dvd recorder on ur pc,on my instructions it shows u how to conect it all up to a cable box but just cant get the remote to work,i have just been watchin a film on cable thru my pc and i can even pause the film and cum back 10 mins later and watch it from were i was earlier or even fast forward to were the film is actually upto on cable its all very clever stuff,if u avent got windows media center u may not understand wot am tryin to say,thanks lads

hi lads not sure wot card i have in my pc only got it on friday from dell,iv got the infared sensor over the sensor on my cable box wen i try and channel channel it stars flashing red and is tryin to turn the channel over but doesent manage to do it,av u lads got media center

also what model of ntl box you got, cos the older black ones work on different ir coding and dont work with media edition
