Hi all,

Can anyone tell me why, with XP Pro, (a) my taskbar at the bottom of the screen has become double height (b) when I unlock it and size it down to single height and then lock it, it goes back to double height when I next boot up but still shows up as locked?:eek

Is it anything to do with the fact that my PC starts up with 10 quick launch items on the taskbar?

i've tried my taskbar with ten quick start items. Yet my taskbar stays single deep after a startup. Then i tried adjusting the size of the quick start area and this made no difference. So sorry swab i cant think of anything

I use the same method as Dave mate. If you want to have quick access to certain utils, make a new folder somewhere and create shortcuts in it to the programs in question. Then, right click on the task bar, choose 'Toolbars', 'New toolbar' and browse to the folder you just made. This will give you a new toolbar that you can shrink to one side (see Daves 'P2P' and 'Dreambox' toolbars at the bottom right of the picture above ?). Click the little arrow at the side and you'll have a vertical toolbar pop up :ok

Many thanks D & M for your suggestions.
I've now sorted the prob by unticking "Group similar taskbar buttons"; don't know how it got ticked but that seems to have been the prob:rolleyes2
