Having just getting about to using the router that I got for my dreambox several months ago (which I never did get about to sorting lol) I've just been trying to get it setup for my laptop.

Only to notice that it after being told would be ok now realise that it has no connection for my phoneline. Therefor it's no good for either my laptop or dreambox while the main pc is switched off. So can anyone sussest either a wired or wireless modem that does not in any way need the use of my pc.

The rest I can sort myself I just need to know which sort of equipment I need, thanks.

what's the model number of the router and are you on a BT or cable phoneline.

i'm guessing you have a cable router and you are on a BT Line..

This is the one I got m8 and I'm on a bt line http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/52897/rb/20133831859

The only connections on it are the power input, usb printer connection, WAN connection and 4 port connections. It might be fine for using while the main pc is on. But it's just not what I wanted it for lol.

no, thats just a router, not a modem/router which is what you need. if you got a modem of your isp, and that connects to your pc using an RJ45 (network lead) not a USB lead then you can just plug this into the port on the router marked WAN and away you go, if not then stop being a mingebag paying £10 for a router, go and get a decent one with built in modem and firewall etc :ok

The modem is an internal pci one. And as this would need power to operate it's not really usefull for me. So I guess a router with a modem built in is what I need to get.
