When you say a DV connector do you mean firewire? Mine has USB (for still pics) and firewire for video/audio. If this is the case then you need to get (if you havent already) a firewire card for your pc and a cable OR a dvd recorder with firewire input (easier for transfering unedited footage)

I have a few dv camcorders some are very old..

Check Jessops out they sell there own brand of battery, i purchased a 4hr battery from them for a panasonic for 1/2price of the same panasonic, i also have purchased jvc batteries from them, but all depends on the model etc.

Dv cable yes to transfer video and sound you need a dv cable and a card for your pc if your mobo doesnt have a dv input and some software to edit the video etc, i personally use premiere but for a newbie this maybe a bit of a steep learning curve, so a basic package like ulead video studio which as some good effects and will enable you to edit, merge and mix video etc and will be ok for you, then once the video is on the pc and youve made your video edit etc you can use the same software to create dvd`s and burn it etc.
