Hi looking for some help as to what would be the best/reliable set up for my sons pub ? he has just taken over his first pub Nr Wrexham north wales it allready had sky set up with a projector & screen but due to landlady demanding £3000 cash to leave it set up he refused so she took it with her leaving behind the sky box/dish/large tv. Today the sky sport channels disapeared so she must have cancelled her subscription which still had 3 months to run. Any one got any ideas about the best way to get him up & running again as in best place to look for screen/projector alternative reciever for sport channels which would be available at all times we have looked at sky prem plus for pubs & the price is unbelievable so looking for alternative to keep the locals happy & drinking in his place.
All I can say is be very careful

Hi coley I hear what you are saying m8 but 5 cases were thrown out of court recently because the judge ruled it was within the law cos they had pay per view channels showing live footy which they had subscribed to so in his ruling no crime was commited which must of pissed rupert murdock off no end:ok

remember what i was saying about it when i was at yours the other day
well s*y will be expecting there £500/ month and be shocked if you cancel it lol, also i think the way it is interpreted ~ live football , so so if you have a system that delays it for Say couple of minuted then it aint live lol.
also with the art package now not 100% Shaw but think they have 2 prick packages like s*y , 1 for home and another for commercial .

The big difference is that them pubs also suscribed to sky and the issue was about 3pm games on a saturday only.
I am no expert on this though so I would not like to give you false information. But I would hate to for our son to get into trouble.
By the way I hate everything pay tv stands for I cannot believe people should have to pay to watch moving images on a screen.
Ljs forum is a good place to get info on this subject as there is a dlot of landlords on there.
God luck with it all
If I were you Shoppy I'd give Dicky a ring.

The best alternative to a Sky based system is one of the Technomates with both an Art Sports and a Digit Alb card shoppy ............

Thanks for replys guys paddy/macker note what you are saying & thank you my lad rang sky today to try & get system up & running again ASAP but they said they need possitive proof pub has changed hands cos they are owed money & will not consider new contract untill debt is settled or proof of change of owner can be established in the meantime people who rely on pub for footy are going else where until something is sorted but have sypathised with him for the way he has been shit on by ex landlady who led him to believe she had payed for next 3 months when in fact sky are chasing her for unpayed use of sky.
Also if the rumours are true....
Sky will be hiking their sports package up in price and charging more per game £7 on top for each major game so ive heard...personally i would boot it out pay a license to get the rights to show a movie and each week show a movie and have a themed day, ie ppl dressed as characters from the movie gets 10%% off drink prices etc etc.
Bout time ppl stood up to the big boys and said NO!
