the popcorn hour is(was) considered the mutts nutts of media streamers when i was reading up on them a while back.

it depends exactly what you want to do, so it just to stream media from a pc to a tv or do you require storage as well, wifi etc.

i have been looking this thing, its a small but powerfull media streamer that seems to be getting a few great reviews,

reading thru the reviews (cos i have nowt better to do at silly o'clock in the morning) and the one above doesn't play .mkv files.
so if that is your intention then you need its bigger brother

this one is £70 but will play pretty much anything you throw at it and will sit on your network and stream directly from the pc without any need for copying to usb drives.

M8 if you have a ps3 or a xbox360 networked there are programs that you install on your pc and they will stream stuff to your consoles etc..

I have 2 purpose built media servers that have 16tb of storage that serve the entire house on demand, And have been in use daily for last 3-4ish years with only the odd blip they are well worth it and all of my m8s, who have seen them in action have built their own or had me doing them, mine are networked via cat cable wireless is easy to do but the quality in my opion lacks.

Im using Tversity Pro.

Does media sever play the MKV format I thought you had to convert the files first

using MKV2VOB ?.

What really sold me on the C200 is the ability to use Bit torrent and Usenet and

download straight to disk without using the PC.

M8 i use ps3 media server to play everything, what it doesnt play you simply goto the transcode folder via the ps3 and click on the film after 5-10seconds it plays.

It will play any file on your pc as long as it plays on your pc in the first place, if it doesnt you may need codecs etc.

There are also plug ins to allow you to view cd art/movie art etc
