Ok been looking forward to this one for a while now, so yesterday afternoon i dragged myself off to the local cinema to catch it.
The Story:without giving it all away.
In 2009 a Indian scientist discovers that a flare from the sun is changing the earths centre making it hotter which will result in the earths crust melting, which in term means the land will disolve etc... He lets another scientist know and we follow him during the film, he convinces the president played by Danny Glover that the end of the world is coming and it will happen in 2012, thus prompting each and every leader to plough billions into making Arks (yes the Noah kind) where animals and so many people will go onto and live etc this is all top secret.
the movie now jumps to 2012 and we catch up with a small book author Jackson played by John Cusak , who is a author but also a limo driver for a stinking rich russian billionaire, he happen to write a book about mankind and how we would cope etc, we follow him as he happens to discover whats a about to happen to the planet we live on.
Slowly but surely the world looks as though it`s demise is unfolding , earth quakes, tsunami`s and the like are unleashed taking millions of lives.
The film is a good watch there are a few moments in the movie when you think over the top or why are they wasting time doing that etc or why is the land crumbling behind them as they are driving why not crumble in front of them etc etc.
It is a great action special effect 2hrs 40min rollercoaster of a ride, the acting isn`t the best ive seen in a movie but hey that aside it aint that bad, but i was disappointed because i love really sad endings i want to see total anhilation of mankind in a movie and the ending in this film goes somewhat towards that but no where on the scale i would have loved.
so here is my verdict:
Acting: 5.5/10
Special Effects :9/10
Story:6.5/10
Would i recommend it - Yes , probably the best movie on the cinema now and for the last year or so, this is a biggy film one you would buy on blu ray because every detail counts.
When you consider for the price of your cinema ticket you are getting 2hrs 40minutes of action and disaster it aint a bad thing.
