ok now ive got my pc to reconize my new sata hard drive,so then i used msblst4win to copy my inuse drive to my new drive, once i done this i disconnected the old ide drive and tryed to boot up windows on my new drive but the os just hung on the welcome screen. So i went back and reformated new drive set up active partions and tryed agian with the same results(so i gave up).
so my next option was just to install a fresh copy of windows on to my new sata drive.
ive tryed just about everything i can think of here but when setting up windows i keep getting a message saying there is no hard drive attachted, thing is ive buit a pc for some 1 and it was a sata drive and i had no problems(went into bios and changed ide to raid config).
Can any 1 help out here cause this is begin to get the better of me here.
my motherboard is a asus a8v deluxe and the new drive is a western digi 250gb sata150 caviar se.
could it be cause my windows media cneter set up disk doesnt support sata?

YES..DONE..IT
What is was...i had to make a floppy of the sata driver then when windows was instaling i had to press f6 to install a third party raid driver (the floppy)and once again hay presto.so i guess the windows instalation cd ive goto doesnt support sata drives in its buit in drivers.BTW took about 6 hours to sort this and i still havent transferd none of my files from the old to the new drive.....O my EYEs are goin sqaure
