Well I'm not voting cos nobody in the main parties has anything or does anything worth while in my opinion.

None of the main parties seem to want to deal with real matters that effect this country cos of fear of loosing votes or just tow the party line on many issues in this country.

Sometimes I find it difficult to decide which party to vote for in General Elections but always vote for the one that seems to offer a set of policies that will benefit our country most.

In Local Elections, it is easier to decide which candidate is likely to give his/her time and effort to the community, so I generally vote for the person rather than the party.

If you don't vote you are denying yourself of a right that has been hard-fought for in our history..... it is less than 100 years that women were given the right after many women sacrificed their freedom to achieve it.

Modern politics seems to attract plenty of freeloaders but there are still a large number of candidates who genuinely believe that they can, if elected, help to make things better for the majority of us. I know a few of these people and marvel at their dedication to their cause. Usually, they are chosen as candidates by others who are aware of this dedication and feel that the organisation (not always a political party) will be well-served if the person(s) are elected.

I am not a member of any party and never have been (other than joining the SDP when it was formed as a new party to "break the mould" of British politics; unfortunately, the party fell by the wayside thanks to the arrogance of David Owen who didn't want to share power with the Liberals).

Always vote if you can..... if you don't, then don't moan about something that you haven't bothered to do something about yourself.

Whatever your views (and I agree that none of 'em represent what I want) - if you don't vote then you can't moan when they get into power.

IMHO these days you have to vote against the you-know-whats that you think are going to cause the most problems.

Postal votes?! - the cleverest way to fiddle the votes and stay in power 'cos the public can't be a^sed to put an X on a card. Any sane society would ban it.

Rant over and soapbox back in the garage! :biggrin
