Before u get too used to it mate, make sure you install the new ROM version from HTC's website as you lose all settings from the phone when you install it.

have you got this on payg mackee

No mate, on contract to Orange but done through CPW so unlocked........

I honestly can't remember the last time I was so impressed by a gadgety thing!

I installed the update mentioned above as soon as I got it home and have experienced no lag whatsoever, it's amazingly quick compared to the Nokia's and so on that I've seen running and keeps pace with an iPhone that a friend has ..........

macker

Probably not mate. There is an Orange specific Rom update though so be sure to use that one if upgrading the firmware, not the generic or T-Mobile version .............

Use mine on the 'net all the time mate! Have you calibrated the keyboard? I found it was far better after I did that .................

jakeuk
21st October 2009, 22:43
no m8 not calibrated but getting the hang of it now updated firmware first on your recomendation then figured out how to send & recieve texts, downloaded some new apps & generally finding it not so much of a challenge now,
i can see how someone with a bit less patience might sling it but by god they dont know what theyre missing
well chuffed with it..can see one or two downsides like battery life but nothing that would put me off:ok

are these nokias any good mate, 3 are begging me to carry on my contract and offering me 1 of these, its only £10 a month 500 mins any network and 500 text, ive been with them a few years, but holding out, these indian call centre's tend to give you a better deal if you wait until the last minute before you say no.

thetarget
22nd October 2009, 00:45
I like the phone myself but it would depend what version firmware is on it
anything after v20 is ok

firmwares have to be approved by the network they are locked too..
some of these networks are very slow to approve

there are lots of apps for them some require that you digitally sign them before they load...get a developers certificate and sign the apps as you install them
and its happy days you can use any app for it

02 have an offer of topup £15 for free web n texts for a month so i give it a bash using my samsung tocco (pile of poo) and its only connecting using gprs so its dial-up slow, i wouldn't even bother trying to put together a meaningful post using it either as its text message keyboard not a qwerty.

can see one or two downsides like battery life

My battery life was bad at first but after a few charges it seems alot better now .........

As a side note, did you see that its just won 'Gadget of the Year' and 'Phone of the Year' at the T3 awards and been named 'Gadget of the Year' by 'Stuff' magazine?

yes macker my battery is performing the same way too:ok

id often read about battery perfomance improving with regular use but never actually noticed it that much before..watching the seconds tick down on ebay items and replying to threads here at the same time while downstairs in the comfort of the lounge watching telly is going to have an impact on any battery though :biggrin

just going to follow the links you left now :ok

ok there is serious talk about me getting a new phone here :biggrin
think my gf is after my 5800 TBH LOL

you have had the hero for ages now any problems at all with it ?
things you don't like ?

nokia really pi** me off tbh the 5800 is fine apart from one bug that they never address in firmware updates (browser closing unexpectedly)

I really hate Nokias customer service and update methods

exactly like a nokia or samsung TT sim card goes under the battery ..

its just flipping occured to me, you know i said i spoke to a helpline person.. well she was one of these that go OTT with im so jolly & helpful tone of blonde moment sort of demeanour.. you know the sort..
well she was telling " ive got an HTC phne too" and i asked her which model? she said

" err, its an innovation"

i said that must be a new model., i had'nt heard of..
now im sitting here tidying my desk as i go and looked across at the phone And there it is, writtin down the thin side of the metal casing, HTC innovation.. i have an innovation too.

well it gave me a chuckle but i suspect / hope a call to a different helpline person might be slightly more fruitful

LMAO:biggrin
