Do anyone know anything about tv repairs most places i ring want money upfront just to look at it. I dont mind that but i dont want to pay it for them just to say it can't be fixed or its gonna cost more than the tele is worth.

Its a lcd and the power wont turn on the blue power light at the front of the tele flickers very dim off and on but it wont come on

Try looking up some technical support boards for electronics\lcd screens. They might be able to narrow down the problem to either pay to fix it or bin it and put the repair costs towards a new 1.

Well m8

i have just accidentally drooped our denon amp . . Just as well it wasn't working isn't it .. :biggrin .. this was after i was quoted £60 to look at it ..
We have new for old . we have been told the policy will go up by about £4 a month ... The amp is £500 to replace , then when it is time we can get a cheaper re-quote .. We haven't had a claim in years ... once claimed for a t.v that got knocked of it's stand while decorating ... Why else do you pay house contents insurance ..

Rog :ok

Personally if i was going to be charged £60 for it to be looked at then the actual repair cost etc, i would look at getting a new one with maybe a extended warranty etc

I know Argos are having a sale on tv`s till the 1st of Sept but before you buy check out other places like play.com because Argos sales aren`t exactly known for being the best.

have to be honest mate this guy has seen you coming

you should never agree to be charged for a quote on a repair

guy says to repair will cost £100 + too much for you so you cut you losses and leave the TV with him to avoid paying the £30

then he repairs the TV for next to nothing and sells it on everything is profit
as he has paid nothing for your TV and its very likely he has repaired it using parts he already had from a scrap TV

your sisters fella ....win he got £30 for the TV.

TV repair man...win the TV for free OR £30 for a TV he might not have even looked at

jonc ...Fail £30 down and the hassle of dealing with all this and the guy might not want you TV and chase you for the £30
