need a bit of advice here,ive just bought a new segate 160 sata hard drive and would like to transfer everything that is on my exsting harddrive to my new 1 so i can give the old drive to the kids for there pc and i keep the new one with no fuss of reinstalling windows and stuff.
my hard drive iam useing now is a ide type with the wide ribbion,
the new one is sata with the small thin cable.
ive installed the new drive set it as array 1 but my computer just wont see it any idears were iam goin wrong.
also iam i tring to something that is atctuley possible to do.

glad u sorted it, but in the software section i posted a HDD clone utility, it make light work of this ( but not the setup)

the main problem was that the harddrive needs to be fdisk and formated even when it is new out of the box ,once i did this hey presto .
