what about building yourself a media center pc.
with bluray drive, dual-core cpu, wireless keyboard mouse and tv tuner card.
probably cost the same as a ps3 but with a lot more functions you can use.
there was supposed to be a tv tuner for the ps3 available last year but i couldn't find one for sale.

i would get a antec 300 case set all the fans to low and load it with a am2 AMD 6000 + cpu 2GB of ram nice big hard drive

Like Dave
I use overclockers for things i need today because its local and i also use ebuyer because they are cheaper than most and delivery isnt to bad.
I have a media server located in the spare bedroom it has ample of hard drive space (8 internal 1tb`s and 4 external 1tb) this serves my ps3 connected to my big tv , serves my xbox360 connected to the other tv and my touchscreen jukebox.
All of my movies are on my hd`s and im in the process of adding my cd`s to those drives as well, it works flawless and i can recommend that route to ppl as well, but like Dave suggested build a pc for under the tv i had that once, silent if you pick the correct stuff but very effective and also upgradeable as things change.

yes there is a tv tuner for the ps3. it's called play tv. it gives you all the freeview channels. but as of yet there is no way for subs tv like setanta. its just a little black box that you connect your tv coaxal to and a usb lead to the ps3. install the software that comes with it and away you go. yes you can record to the harddrive to, pause, rewind etc. and if you have a psp you can connect to your ps3 anywhere in the world via wifi and watch freeview tv on the psp, you can even set the ps3 to record via the psp. as for finding it in the shops any of these do it
